Florence is one of the most beautiful city in Italy and one of the well know. In the Middle Age Florence was an important cultural, commercial, economic and financial centre of Italy then, in the Modern Age became the Granducato di Toscana’s Capital under the governance of Medici and Lorena’s family. After the unification of Italy, Florence got the role of Capital from 1865 to 1871. It is considered the place where Renaissance born and for its particular beauty, UNESCO declared its city centre World Heritage. There are many monuments you can visit in Florence. First of all lots of churches as, for example, Santa Maria del Fiore with its famous “Cupola”, its “Campanile” and its “Battistero” or the church of Santa Croce, one of the most big Franciscan church. In this church, better known as “Il tempio dell'Itale glorie" you can find many sepoltures of great artists or scientists such as Donatello, Michelangelo, Galileo Galilei, Niccolò Machiavelli, Guglielmo Marconi, Enrico Fermi, Luigi Cherubini, Lorenzo Ghiberti, Gioachino Rossini, Leon Battista Alberti, Ugo Foscolo and others.
In addition to religious architectures, in Florence you can find many wonderful palaces such as Palazzo Vecchio or Palazzo Pitti. The first one was the location of Italian Parliament, at the beginning of Italian unification and nowadays is the Town Hall of Florence. The second one is strictly connect with the Giardini di Boboli, one of the most significant artistic complex of the city. It contains eight rich and famous museums: Galleria Palatina, Appartamenti Monumentali, Museo degli Argenti, Galleria d'Arte Moderna, Galleria del Costume, Museo delle Berline Storiche, Museo delle Porcellane, and Museo delle carrozze.
There are also fantastic villas of the Medici Family open to the public and, actually interesting, are the towers which remember us the Middle Age period.
